Group Stage
The 2024 edition of the ICC T20 World Cup will feature a record 55 matches over 29 days at nine venues. Six stadiums in the USA and three in the West Indies will host group stage matches, with all other matches – including the Super Eights and the semi-finals – to be held in the Caribbean. ICC chief Geoff Allardice believes the USA will prove to be a “new frontier for cricket” and is confident that the event’s success in the country will encourage more people to watch and play the game.
The tournament will be contested by 20 teams, up from 16 at the last edition in 2022. The two hosts – the USA and the West Indies – automatically qualified, while the next two highest teams in the T20I rankings also received automatic entry. The remaining spots were filled through regional qualifiers, with Canada and Uganda making their T20 World Cup debuts.
A total of four groups of five teams will compete for the top two spots in each group, with the top two from each advancing to the Super 8 stage. The final two teams from the Super 8 will then be ranked to determine which team will be crowned T20 World Cup Champions 2024.
Defending champions England will begin their campaign in Group B alongside 2022 finalists Australia, with a clash between the two rivals scheduled for June 8. Defending champion India will be up against arch-rivals Pakistan on 3 June at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, while Sri Lanka will face South Africa on 12 June at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago.
Fans eager to see their favorite team compete for the coveted title can apply for tickets through the public ticket ballot. The ballot opens on November 30 and will close on February 7. The ICC has made it clear that the application process is not based on a first-come, first-served basis and will ensure an equitable distribution of tickets.

The games will be televised in high-definition on both traditional and digital platforms. The broadcasters include FOX, NBC, and ESPN.
